St Albans
John Mason’s garden
A failing lawn in St Albans replaced with sandstone, fencing, a deck and turf, then a monthly visit.

The plot had a small patio and a lawn that was half dead. That lawn came up and the ground was dug out for sandstone. New fence panels went in with the patio.
Block paving forms the edge between the new surface and the grass. A deck was added at the back for summer; handrails can be built where a deck needs them.
The soil already there was poor, so seeding topsoil was brought in before the turf and the new plants. The garden has stayed on a monthly visit since.
Service: Low maintenance garden design. Town: St Albans.
